Lauren
Renée Hotchkiss is a singer/songwriter, multi-instrumentalist,
and composer who lives in Berkeley, CA. She has performed as
a solo artist in both secular and non-secular venues and has performed
with small and large ensembles as well. Formerly a member,
contributing composer, arranger, and occasional conductor with the
orchestra of the First Unitarian Church of Oakland, she now regularly
provides music for services at the Berkeley Fellowship of Unitarian
Universalists where she is chair of the Music Committee. A poet
and writer as well, she often combines the literary and the musical in
interesting, unexpected, and unusual ways. In addition to her work at the Berkeley Fellowship, she continues to perform at other locales around the Bay Area. Most recently, she has begun working with the band The Serfs on a project entitled Shakespeare’s Greatest Hits, updating music from Shakespeare plays and performing it on electric instruments. She is currently pursuing a degree in Music Composition, to further hone her skills in composing. |
